According to’s ethnicity facts and figures website, Black people in the UK are more likely than any other group to be diagnosed with a serious mental heath condition, more likely to be dependant on drugs, more likely to be overweight or obese, and more likely to suffer from health issues like type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. Why is this? 🧐 


Black Women in the UK are 5x more likely to die from complications surrounding pregnancy and childbirth than white women (BBC News – April 2019). Module 1: Introduction to our environment and our health

Lesson 1- The Traffic Light Game: Looking at Foods and answering the question why do we eat unhealthy foods.

Lesson 2 – The Obesogenic Environment: How the environment we live is affecting our view on health and the foods we eat.
Lesson 3 – What is health: A look to answer the question of what is health at its basic form. 
Lesson 4 – P.O.W.E.R.S:  An acronym for Plants, Oxygen, Water, Exercise, Rest & Sunlight
Lesson 5 – The True Science of Melanin: Why understanding melanin is vital to understanding our health. Why are a lot of black people confused about Melanin?

Module 2: Scientific foundation to the elements that affect our body & health.

Lesson 1 – Human Energy and Cellular Health:  We take a closer look at how energy is used by the body and how its produced. 

Lesson 2 – Cellular Metabolism: How the cells process the foods you eat.
Lesson 3 – Introduction to Fats, Cholesterol and Hormones : We take a closer look at fats, its function, types of fats, how the body uses it..
Lesson 4 – Carbohydrates, Vitamins and Minerals: Why we need carbohydrates, how this helps with elimination of foods in the body, they 8 types of sugar, We look at the Vitamins A, B, C, D, E and K and their purpose in the body. We look at Minerals from Calcium, Copper, Iodine, Iron, Magnesium and Potassium
Lesson 5 – Common Diseases and Vitamin D: Is there a link between common diseases black people face and Vitamin D? How vitamin D is produced, What is Vitamin D.

Module 3: Key elements that govern how our body works

Lesson 1- Importance of Enzymes: We break down what enzymes are and their purpose in our body and our bio chemistry. Simply put nothing in our body works without Enzymes. 

Lesson 2 – Secret Science of Water: Is there a thing as structured water, why do we need water, how can we get the most out of the water we drink. 
Lesson 3 – The Digestive System: We look at the digestive system and how it extracts what it needs as the foods goes through our body. 
Lesson 4 – Inflammation: What is inflammation and how is it caused, and what’s it purpose in our body..

Module 4: Foods and the Body - What Foods to Eat!

Lesson 1 – Benefits of a Plant Based Diet: What is a plant based diet and is it the only diet we should be eating, are there any drawbacks of such a diet? 

Lesson 2 – Health Food Swaps: We look at foods that kill and foods that we should eat. 
Lesson 3 – Nutritional Values of Foods Revealed: We take a closer look at the nutrients in the foods we should or shouldn’t be eating. We specifically look at the nutritional values from a black perspective and what foods we should or shouldn’t be eating. 
Lesson 4 – Exercise and Weight Management: What is weight management and why is it important. What is a health weight? What diseases are connected to poor weight management. 

Module 5: Black Mental and Emotional Health

Lesson 1 – UK Statistics on Black Health: We will look at the stats that give us a picture of black health in the UK

Lesson 2 – Black Psychology: We try to take a deeper dive into the Physic of the Black individual. We will tackle this through the lense of two Black Physcologist: Dr Amos Wilson and Dr. Jawanza Kunjufu
Lesson 3 – Solutions: Heal.Thy.Self  we look at solutions to our problems. The problems black people have been facing for a long time and why we need to focus on our problems so we can solve them. 
Lesson 4 – Black Body Radiation: A scientific term that explains the universe and its foundation. Does it have any relation to Black People? We also end how to use the information learnt to better your health and those around you.
